Smoky Hill’s Scholastic Drone Sports team will be hosting a Drone Simulator Racing Clinic & Tournament during the TSA state competition. This is a two-day event for all TSA middle & high attendees. All racing will be held using the Velocidrone simulator and all pilots are welcome from beginner to expert. Categories: Middle School, High School, and Instructor category. No experience or equipment needed, but it is suggested practicing prior to the event.
Day 1: Individual simulator training using the Velocidrone simulator.
Day 2: Racing qualifiers- the Velocidrone course will be announced the day of the event.
Day 2 (Evening): TSA Drone Racing Championships to all TSA attendees this year.
Thursday 9am-5pm Pilot Training and Practice:
Pilots will have the opportunity to learn to fly and practice racing.
Friday 9am-4pm Course Qualifiers:
Students will race a championship course to qualify for finals based on their fastest 2-lap time.
Friday 6pm- ?? Course Finals:
The top 32 fastest pilots will earn a spot in the finals held Friday night from 6pm until finished. Finals will be a double elimination head-to-head tournament.
What is Velocidrone? Velocidrone is a fast paced multi-player and single player FPV drone racing simulator. What is the cost? This competition is absolutely free. Pilots will be using temporary licenses, if they want they can purchase a lifetime software licenses for ~$22.
Do I need my own equipment? Smoky Hill High School will be providing all the equipment to use during this event.
To compete, all pilots will need to register for the event.
